My family is needy and I need to earn as much financial aid as possible. I have a job, which I worked very hard to earn and keep, to help my family out. I’ve also worked very hard in school, I take 2 AP classes and I have a 3.71 GPA, in order to gain merit scholarships. My mother and I wonder if colleges may reduce my financial aid packages due to my job. I currently earn $100/week.

I am really worrying about this.

Steph asked:

I plan to attend at Columbia University next year with a major in Electrical Engineering. I would love to study abroad in my later years, possibly China or Germany. However, I am currently able to attend the university thanks to a very generous financial aid offering. If I want to study abroad, would my financial aid cover it or would I have to pay out of my own pocket?
