Does moving out of the house hurt chances of receiving financial aid for college?

financial aid
Poopsie asked:

I’ve contemplated moving out of my house several times but I’ve been deterred by several family members threatening me that i would not receive any financial aid as i do now and will have to rely on loans to continue my education. Is this true?

I just don’t want to spend a good chunk of my life paying off school loans and I don’t want to live at home either.

If I take out a student loan and then get financial aid, would that take away from the loan ?

Dave D asked:

I figure that it would because now you’re not using some of that money and that they’d cancel each other out. I want to go to Southeastern University next year, but I’m enrolled at a local college here. I’m eligible for Financial aid and I think 2 scholarships. I just want to make sure I have all this straight before I make a move.

Jenny asked:

I seriously only received $331 from UCR for financial aide… i dont know if it’s because i turned in my FAFSA kinda late, or if it’s because my parent’s make too much money.

331 dollars is a joke. is it too late to get financial aid from anywhere else?

Thanks in advance!

Once upon a time I made a stupid decision and withdrew from school… I never informed the school, I just stopped going.

(a lot things were happening in my life at that time, prefer not to get into it but it was irresponsible nonetheless)

I now want to return to school but owe them $700.. Do I have to pay that off first before I can return? Can I still get financial aid?

wonderer asked:

i am wondering if anyone knows if there is financial aid available to allow me to live while i go through school to teach, meaning, i would like to go to school fulltime, but need money to pay bills while in school. I have worked in the mortgage industry for the past 15 years. I’m planning on going back for my master’s degree and would like to teach Biology on the community college level.

Just trying to figure out if this is possible.

Melissa E asked:

I was allowed to enroll (we do this over the phone) for spring and I haven’t recieved anything to state that I am not getting financial aid for spring but I am worried just the same. The offices do not open until Jan 2. Does anyone know if you are required to be notified if your aid is suspended or if a hold would have been placed on your account so you couldn’t enroll?
