As far as assets, he does not make money owning the corporation, but from a salary.

my parents’ combined income is less than 40,000. does that make a difference? or does the fact that my dad owns part of a corporation automatically means he should be able to afford my college expenses?

I speak with my financial aid representative tommorrow but want to have an idea about how it works so I can be prepared.
The Associates Degree Course I will be taking is about $31,000 for the whole 1 year and a half.

I read somewhere that I could receive up to 18,500 a year in Financial Aid for Graduate school. I work full time and made some good money last year, but only enough to survive really. Is this 18,500 bases on financial need, or is it available to anyone no matter what the income level you earned in a year?
