I have a family of 5, and am thinking about going back to school. I am my family’s primary income producer. I need to produce enough financial aid in all of its forms to cover our 40k annual income while I go back to school for 2 more years. I’m not against selling our home and moving to a lower income lifestyle.

I’ve recently decided to change my major from computer engineering to nursing but my school (a 4 year university) doesn’t offer the program so i will have to move to a close by community college to get my AA. Since I’ve already received the financial aid for this semester and next semester’s financial aid is also decided, will i get the same amount of money, if any, when i switch to a community college? Also, will i be required to pay back the money i was given for this semester since i might not complete the year?

Could you ask financial aid to take money from next semester, including loans, grants, to pay for something for this semester. I know they would have to review your file but is this possible did anyone ever try?

I’m going full time right now (13 credits) and I receive financial aid. I can’t drop any classes because my financial aid reflects the fact that I go full time, but I don’t think I’m going to pass one of my classes. If I get a D or F in a class, what happens to my financial aid? I know I go on Academic Probation, but I don’t really know what that means. Will I loose my aid for next semester? How does Academic Probation work?

I live with my mother in law with my fiance and a baby. But she makes about $50,000 a year and claiming us on her taxes. Would that unqualify me for financial aid? I heard that you have to be claiming yourself, or the financial aid goes based off of the person’s income that is claiming me.

I have already been to college for 3 years but due to having children and leaving school I defaulted on school loans and I want to go back to school but cannot get financial aid due to the default. I know I can pay for 1 year to show good intention on the loans and get out of default but I want to go to school now.

If my parents are both retired and our gross income is about 70,000 a year how much financial aid help will USC give. I am planning on attending next fall and want to know if we are able to pay for it.
